In the 1920s, the Yaquina John Point was sliced and diced into a neighborhood of small residental lots. Our home was built on a small looped lane, Waziyata Way. Our neighbors across the street have oceanfront property, but we have a view and beach access through a wide gap between houses. The point was named after Yaquina John, a chief or councillor of the indigenous Yaquina people.
